SouthBank Legal Adds Former Assistant U.S. Attorney Jesse M. Barrett

South Bend, Ind. (Feb. 11, 2019) – Jesse M. Barrett has joined SouthBank Legal: LaDue | Curran | Kuehn, strengthening the firm’s service and capabilities in its investigations and white collar defense practice area.

Based in the firm’s South Bend office, Barrett focuses his practice on complex commercial litigation, internal investigations, and white collar criminal defense. He represents companies and individuals at all stages of investigation, litigation, and appeal, as well as in mediation and arbitration. Barrett has tried jury cases in a variety of courts and has experience in all areas of litigation.

Previously, Barrett practiced at national law firms in Indiana and Washington, D.C., and most recently as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Northern District of Indiana. During his 13 years as a federal prosecutor, he led investigations into a wide variety of cases, including commercial fraud, data breaches, tax violations, insurance fraud, identity theft, mail and wire fraud, and public corruption. His legal career includes a clerkship on the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.

Barrett earned his juris doctor, magna cum laude, from the Notre Dame Law School, where he was editor-in-chief of the Notre Dame Law Review. He also earned his bachelor’s degree, magna cum laude, from the University of Notre Dame.

In addition to practicing law, Barrett serves as an adjunct professor at the Notre Dame Law School, where he teaches trial skills and criminal law. He coaches high school mock trial, and his teams have reached the Indiana state finals.
